Brain Train Forgetting Bad Memory

It is not impossible to erase a bad memory. The trick is to constantly push the memory a long time.

That's according to the results of the research team from Lund University in Sweden. By using scanning EEG researchers reported that there were parts of the brain are activated when the respondents are actively trying to forget something.

These brain areas are also able to determine the time for memory to 'forget' something. Researchers claim that suppress the memory to be forgotten, in the long term is an effective way to permanently delete them.

This method can be done by someone suffering from depression or post traumatic stress disorder. Forget or suppress the memory often appears as a physiological reaction, so the researchers say it could be handled.

"Volunteers are involved in our study trained to forget the neutral information in a controlled trial. But to traumatic events required more complex training," said Gerd Thomas Waldhauser, researchers at Lund University, as quoted by the Telegraph.co.uk.

This study shows a person can set the brain to forget something. From the results of an EEG scan, it is known that when a person continues to hamper its memory about certain things, then that moment he forgot.

"Inhibition of memory can be done in a few hours. The more often inhibited or suppressed, the more difficult to remember. If memories have been suppressed for long period of time, they can be very difficult to remember," said Waldhauser.
